ABOUT THE PACK:

The Whirlpool Hip Pack - is the pack we wanted to be on the market but couldn’t find. It is an overstuffable design without any zippers to blow out, sturdy seams and lot of carrying options. A removable bladder / sleeve and bottle holsters lend to about 100oz of water carrying capacity (think the whole enchilada, palisade plunge, or pretty much any big enduro race). It was designed with stability, comfort, and simplicity front of mind. The name was picked because the pack is a water carrying machine and is a roll top closure, hence, The Whirlpool. Its wings are designed with as much area as we could get to help distribute the heavy water load. They are sewn in at two points per wing to give them the flexibility to move to the body of the rider. We also tilted the wings up some so the pack sits lower on the back. This helps when in a riding position, keeping the waist belt low. The daisy chain webbing on the back is the perfect spot to strap a coat, carabiner you coffee mug, or clip some sunscreen. You can also take you sunglasses and put the arms through the webbing if you need a place to let them air out.

SIZING AND CONFIGURATION:

We offer the Whirlpool in 4 different configurations. We are only releasing these three pack colors but customers can choose from 3 main buckle types as a custom option (side release, fidlock, cobra). Both the Black and Ranger Green come with orange liners and the Yellow comes with a Black liner.

A killer hip bag

I bought it for a summer of dirt touring in the mountains, mainly as a super-purse for the necessities I always want to have on me -- but not in my pockets. It is a really well-thought-out bag executed beautifully. Lashing points & straps + hydration compatibility make it just about perfect. I especially like that there is a gap between the 'pack' portion and the 'wings' -- I expect this will help with sweat management a bit.

All the Things and Space I Need

I picked up this bag primarily for mountain bike rides where I need to be able to provide light first aid and mechanical help to other riders. It easily holds those tools and my light wind/rain jacket. I can also fit a flannel if I really want to use all the space. The webbing on the exterior also allows me to strap a folding saw on in case I think some trail work will need to be done. The Cobra buckle is freaking cool too.

Best Hip Pack I own

There are a lot of things I love about this hip pack - The roll top closure, plenty of space for gear/tools/water/food/etc., the material and construction seems to be really nice and well thought out, and there are plenty of straps/loops on the exterior of the pack to attach to.

I can't overstate how nice the roll top closure is. Most hip packs use a zipper to close it up, which really limits storage space and when stretched, and typically start to rip over time rendering the pack useless if you don't have a sewing machine. Not this pack, the roll top allows for expansion as needed so you really can't overpack and stress the seams.

There is plenty of room inside the bag as well. I typically ride with a 1.5 L bladder, small handheld pump, tool, gels and clif bar, and wallet/phone/keys ...even with all that in there I still have room if I need to bring a shell, extra gloves or what have you. It's good to mention there is a tether for your keys as well.

I've noticed other hip packs have a tendency to loosen over the course of a ride, this is due to general movement but also the way the packs are sewn such that as water bladders are emptied, space is expanded and the pack loosens...NOT with this pack! The way it's sewn together (and the extra space inside) a bladder can start full and gradually empty and it doesn't affect the tension on the straps - for me at least this is such a critical feature.

Highly recommend!

First of its kind.

The Whirlpool has been awesome so far, beautifully crafted and well thought out. I can carry a bladder, coat, snacks, and a beer all comfortably. Highly recommended.
