Careers
It is our dream to build a business that can support people living in the mountains. Life is expensive up here. Housing is hard to find (and expensive) and many peoples dreams of living a sustainable life in the mountains doesn't happen because of it.
Currently, San Util isn't hiring... yet. But with further growth, we plan to be soon!
With that being said, we're always looking for talented people who share the same passion for riding bikes and want to grow a locally owned, bootstrapped small business in the mountains.
If you are interested in helping San Util grow, don't hesitate to reach out. We'd love to meet you and explore future opportunities to work together.
Job Title: Product Development & Tech Pack Specialist
Company: San Util Design
Location: Remote
Job Type: Contract
Industry: Technical Gear / Soft Goods Design
About Us:
San Util Design is a small but growing design studio crafting high-quality technical gear with a focus on function, sustainability, and intentional aesthetics. We're a tight-knit, passionate team, and we're looking for someone who’s excited to jump in and help turn good ideas into great products.
What You'll Be Doing:
-
Collaborate directly with the founder to ideate and develop new gear concepts.
-
Translate design ideas into clean, production-ready tech packs, including flat sketches, construction notes, measurements, and material details.
-
Support early-stage design development through mood boards, sketches, and material research.
-
Communicate with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure clear understanding and accurate execution.
-
Iterate and refine prototypes, updating tech packs throughout the process.
-
Help maintain an organized library of materials, trims, and technical documents.
What We're Looking For:
-
2+ years experience in product development, industrial design, or technical soft goods.
-
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (for flat sketches) and Excel (for BOMs and specs).
-
Solid understanding of construction methods and materials used in technical gear.
-
Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
-
Self-starter comfortable working remotely and independently, but also enjoys creative collaboration.
-
Clear and confident communicator—especially when working with overseas production partners.
Bonus Points:
-
Experience with pattern making, sewing, or hands-on prototyping.
-
Background in the outdoor, tactical, or carry goods industry.
-
Familiarity with small-batch or sustainable production workflows.
What You'll Get:
-
A flexible, remote work setup.
-
A front-row seat in the full design process—from sketch to sample to final product.
-
The chance to help shape a growing brand and build meaningful, well-made gear.
-
A collaborative, low-ego work environment where your ideas actually matter.
